Glebe Centre Councils

Residents' Council

The Glebe Centre Residents’ Council meets monthly to raise and discuss concerns and to make suggestions related to life at the Glebe Centre. A Staff Assistant ensures that concerns are brought to the attention of Management. The Executive Director attends each meeting by invitation and provides a monthly report. The Glebe Centre Residents’ Council is a member of the Ontario Association of Residents’ Councils (OARC). Visit for more information about the OARC.

Family Council
According to the Ontario Family Council's Program a Family Council "is an organized, self-led, self-determining, democratic group composed of family and friends of the residents of Long-Term Care Homes". Their website provides the following further information: "A Staff Liaison from the Home is usually appointed to support and facilitate the Council. All Family Councils provide mutual support, empowerment and advocacy to the family and friends of the residents of Long-Term Care Homes. Although all Family Councils have this goal in common, each Council will be unique in meeting the needs of its members, the residents and the Home." The Glebe Centre has an active Family Council. Its mission is "To enhance the quality of life and quality of care for all residents by promoting an atmosphere of sensitive caring and support amongst staff, friends and family members of the residents of The Glebe Centre".

Abbotsford Council
Abbotsford members actively provide input into the running of the day programs through their council representatives. The mission of the Abbotsford Council is "To foster and promote the interest of its members who may reside anywhere in the Ottawa area and provide opportunities for members to volunteer in the planning organization and operation of Abbotsford".
