Ways to Give

Planned Giving

A planned gift is most commonly a deferred gift or a future gift that has no impact on your current income. It usually is a gift of capital in the form of a bequest, life insurance or a charitable gift annuity. Many people find that once they have made a will and provided for their families and friends, there is very often something left over to provide for the institutions and causes they care about. More and more people whose lives have been touched by The Glebe Centre in some special way are listing The Glebe Centre Inc. as a beneficiary when drawing up their wills. They know that their bequests greatly enhance our century old traditions of caring and innovation. They also have the immediate satisfaction of knowing that their planned gift to The Glebe Centre will serve as a lasting testimony to their heartfelt generosity.

Our Planned Giving Program exists to guide you in planning a charitable gift that provides you with the greatest benefit to you, your family and our organization. Since The Glebe Centre is a charitable organization, your gift may also qualify for a tax credit. You may choose to make your gift during your lifetime or through your estate. For some people, the best approach to giving is making an outright gift of cash, securities or property. We welcome such gifts and we also recognize everyone has different financial needs and concerns and an outright or current gift may not be the appropriate method of giving. The following vehicles are examples of other ways you can further the work of The Glebe Centre through a planned gift.

Memorial and Tribute Gifts

Memorial gifts are wonderful way to honour the life of someone special. Family members, in appreciation of the care received by their loved one, frequently name The Glebe Centre as their charity-of-choice in lieu of flowers when their loved one passes. Memorials from individuals are eligible for a tax receipt and acknowledgement is forwarded to the family on behalf of the donor. Memorial cards are available at The Glebe Centre, as well as many funeral homes.

Tribute gifts enable you to celebrate a birthday, anniversary or special occasion. Often the honouree makes the request in lieu of gifts from friends and family. Acknowledgement is forwarded to the honouree in appreciation of this thoughtfulness. Tribute gifts may be made over the phone or mailed to the Development Department.

Gifts in Kind

These are gifts of items which The Glebe Centre has indicated as needed. Rather than give money, some donors prefer to provide the item and in return receive a charitable donation receipt for its value. It is necessary that a receipt proving the value of the item be provided to the organization.

The Glebe Centre Endowment Fund

This fund has been built up by a group of generous people who have chosen to designate their planned gift to us because of their strong belief in the work of The Glebe Centre. The money in the fund is invested permanently for the long-term benefit of our home. Part of the annual return is reinvested and part is available to spend on Glebe Centre programs. As the fund grows, it will add to the financial health of The Glebe Centre.
