Move-In Day at the Glebe Centre
The day of admission is very busy and can feel overwhelming. Here's what to expect:
Moving In

Arrival and Greeting
Our new resident is greeted at the main entrance by a staff member from the Social Services team.

Receiving Personal Belongings
Personal belongings will be received in the lobby at the time of arrival by Environmental Services staff. Personal belongings will be taken to a processing room to be cleaned, labeled and inspected for safety. Personal items will be delivered to the resident’s room by early afternoon.

Escorted to Home Area & Intake Forms
Social Services staff will escort the resident to their home area, discuss admission questions and complete intake forms.

Consent Forms
The Nursing Support Clerk completes consent forms.

Nurse Reviews Care Needs & Medication
The Nurse discusses care needs, looks after the resident’s medication and obtains consent for treatment.

Physician Confirms Medication & Diet
The resident’s physician is contacted to confirm the medication and diet orders.

Dietary Assessment
The Dietician completes assessments and discusses dietary needs and preferences.

Finance and Agreement
A staff member from the Resident Finance Office discusses the Accommodation Agreement, arranges signing of forms, payment of accommodation fees and sets up a trust account (optional).

Dining Room Orientation
A staff member escorts the resident to meals and assists to familiarize the resident with the dining room seating and routine. If you wish to join us for lunch, please inform the Social Worker prior to move-in day.

First Few Days Adjustment
Over the next few days staff introduce themselves, explain their roles, provide information and assist the resident in adjusting to their new home.

Take a Tour
Tours of The Glebe Centre are scheduled every Wednesday at 11:30 am. Reservations for tours are required, as space is limited.

Resident Accommodation Fees (Effective July 2025)
In Ontario, long-term care accommodation rates vary by room type and are set by the Ministry of Long-Term Care, with the rates increasing annually by inflation.
