Community Support Services

Home Support

Our home support services are designed to make living at home a little easier.

We arrange many essential services and offer them at reasonable rates. We interview and screen all home support workers and businesses to ensure they are professional and reliable. We conduct a home visit with the older adult and/or caregiver to determine the scope of assistance required. Then we assign a worker who will provide quality work according to the supervision of the older adult or caregiver.

Home support workers can provide assistance with housework, meal preparations, companionship, supervision, yard work and minor repairs.

We also provide volunteers who can take seniors and adults with disabilities to essential medical appointments if public transportation is a challenge or other assistance is required.
Volunteers also offer daily telephone calls or periodic visits in the seniors’ home to those at risk of isolation.

These community programs are available to seniors and adults with physical disabilities in the following neighbourhoods:

  • The Glebe
  • Old Ottawa South
  • Ottawa East
  • Heron Park
  • Riverside Park
  • Hunt Club (west of Bank Street)
  • Carleton Heights

If you live outside these areas we provide assistance to locate appropriate services in your particular area.

Please contact us by phone during regular business hours or schedule a call from one of our coordinators by clicking the Caredove Button to initiate a referral.

Transportation

We arrange door through door transportation service to medical appointments by using a paid driver in a shared community van or by a volunteer in the volunteer’s vehicle for those who are able to manage getting in and out of a vehicle. Our shared community van is equipped with a seat that swivels for those with some mobility limitations. For more information please contact us

If you drive, own a car, and have some free time in your week to offer transportation to a medical appointment for a senior, please contact our volunteer coordinator at 613 238 2727 at ext 353.
