The Glebe Centre Incorporated is a charitable, not-for-profit corporation that dates back to 1886 and is operated by an elected volunteer Board of Directors. The Centre operates under the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and is governed by the 2007 Long-Term Care Homes Act and its regulations. It receives its funding from Resident accommodation fees, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, the Champlain Local Health Integration Network and private donations. The Glebe Centre is a CARF Accredited facility.
Built on this 130+ years of history of caring for seniors, today’s Glebe Centre supports the Ottawa community by providing a comprehensive variety of Community Programs and Support Services through our Seniors’ Centre along with 254-beds in our Long Term Care residence. The care offered in this residence includes special care units for Residents from the local Chinese and Culturally Deaf communities.
The Centre employs approximately 350 staff supported by over 200+ volunteers and students on placement all of whom support the Residents and Clients with a holistic approach grounded in best practices and the highest quality standards. Program and service development is based on a close relationship with our multiple stakeholders as we strive to meet the dynamic shifts in the needs of the widely diverse clientele which makes up the Ottawa community.
Resident and Client care, programs, and services are overseen by the following departments: Community Programs, Environmental Services, Finance and Administration, Food Services, Human Resources, Nursing Services, Quality Management, and Resident Services.
